This policy explains what information Breaking Fantasy News ("we", "us") collects when you visit breakingfantasynews.com, how it is used, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
- No accounts. You don't need to sign up or give us payment details to use this site.
- Newsletter. If you subscribe to BFN Weekly, we keep your email address, favorite team and (if you add it) your Sleeper username and league so we can personalize your newsletter. We use them only to send the newsletter, never sell or share them, and delete them on request. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe link. Emails are delivered through an email service provider that processes your address on our behalf.
- My League. When you enter a Sleeper username, we read that account's public league information from Sleeper to build your lineup view. We don't ask for or store your Sleeper password.
- Settings stored on your device. Teams you follow and your preferred scoring format are saved in your own browser (local storage). They never leave your device and you can clear them any time in your browser settings.
- Analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used (for example, which pages are visited and roughly where visitors are). Google Analytics uses cookies and collects information such as your IP address, browser and device type. Learn more at How Google uses information from sites that use its services. You can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
- Server logs. Our hosting provider keeps standard technical logs (such as IP address and pages requested) for security and reliability.
Advertising and cookies
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to our users based on their visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- Users may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at www.aboutads.info.
- Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland are asked for consent before personalized ads or non-essential cookies are used, through Google's consent message.
Affiliate links
Some links to fantasy sports or sportsbook operators may be affiliate links, clearly labeled as advertisements. If you sign up through one, we may earn a commission at no cost to you. Those sites have their own privacy policies.
Data from other services
Live scores are loaded by your browser directly from ESPN's public scoreboard, so ESPN receives that request. Player and team statistics come from public sources such as nflverse, ffverse and Sleeper; no personal information about you is shared with them.
Our YouTube channel and Google sign-in
The site's administrator connects our own Breaking Fantasy News YouTube channel with Google sign-in so the site can upload our videos. Visitors are never asked to sign in with Google. For that one connection, the site uses the YouTube Data API only to upload videos we create to our channel and to read the channel's name. The access token Google issues is stored on our server, is never shared or sold, and is not used for advertising. The administrator can disconnect at any time, which revokes access, and you can review or remove app access at Google Account permissions. Our use of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. Videos on YouTube are also covered by the YouTube Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example California or the European Union), you may have rights to access or delete personal information and to opt out of its sale or sharing for targeted advertising. Because we don't keep accounts, most information is held by Google under the tools above; for anything else, contact us.
Children
This site is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes
If we change this policy we'll update the date at the top of this page.
